Mailchimp & Canva

The NAACP Arlington Branch Communications Committee urgently needs a volunteer to help with the Mailchimp email list software using the Canva design platform in August & September.

The tasks are simple and you don’t need much experience with either program to make a significant difference for NAACP Arlington Branch.

Please email [email protected] to volunteer.

Housing Committee

The Housing Committee of the NAACP Arlington Branch is an essential part of the branch's mission to advance civil rights in Arlington.

The committee:
Studies housing conditions in the local community
Receives and seeks to address complaints of discrimination
Opposes all restrictive practices whether public or private
Disseminates information and renders such other assistance which may eliminate discrimination in housing

Over the years, the Housing Committee has launched the Annual Arlington Fair Housing Conference (now in its 4th year), worked with advocates and residents at the Serrano Apartments to improve living conditions and address violations of tenant rights, successfully advocated for the adoption of Expanded Housing Options (EHO) to end exclusionary zoning in Arlington, worked with the Virginia State Conference and the Arlington General Assembly delegation to have tenants' rights legislation adopted in the General Assembly, worked with Arlington County and regional governments to ensure adoption of a comprehensive Regional Fair Housing Plan in 2023, hosted events with national leaders in fair housing and zoning reform to educate Arlingtonians, and advanced numerous affordable and fair housing policies within Arlington

Don't rest, there is excellent work to do!

We hope you are inspired to join us in the continuing fight for social justice in Arlington and across the nation by learning about the NAACP and NAACP Arlington Branch. Our meetings are typically on the 3rd Monday of the month.

NAACP Arlington Branch advocates, agitates, and litigates for the civil rights due to Black America. Our legacy is built on the foundation of grassroots activism by civil rights pioneers who founded the NAACP in 1909 and this branch in 1940. The work of this nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization is sustained by 21st century Arlington activists and supporters. From classrooms and courtrooms to Arlington County government, the Virginia General Assembly, and the U.S. Congress, our members work to secure the social and political power that will end race-based discrimination. That work is rooted in racial equity, civic engagement, and supportive policies and institutions for all marginalized people. We are committed to an Arlington without racism where Black people enjoy equitable opportunities in a thriving community.
